چکیده
In grain amaranthus (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) ten genotypes were evaluated for twelve characters under four plant density levels viz. very high (D ), high (D ), normal (D ) and low plant density (D ) 1 2 3 4 levels to study the influence of different plant density levels on growth and grain yield of grain amaranthus. The study was conducted at College Orchard, Department of Horticulture, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute, TNAU, Karaikal during kharif 2007. Grain yield plant was reduced in very 1 high and low plant density levels mainly because of reduction in length of the primary inflorescence, fresh weight of the inflorescence, number of secondary branches per inflorescence and leaf area at 50% flowering when compared to high and normal plant densities. The high plant density produced the highest grain yield plot which was mainly due to the number of plants per unit area was higher under this density level than 1 normal and low plant density levels which could increase the grain yield plot . Based on the mean 1 performance, Annapurna was identified as ideal genotype performing superior under all the four plant density levels followed by the genotype E C 519554 for most of the yield and yield attributing characters.

Interaction Effect of Arbuscular Mycorrhiza and Redroot Pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) on Growth and Yield of Sunflower under Water Stress Conditions
The management of soil elements by biological fertilizers is considered as an important attribute of sustainable agriculture. In order to evaluate the interaction effects of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) on growth and yield of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) under water stress conditions, a field study was conducted in 2015 at School of Agricultur...
متن کاملBurkholderia ambifaria and B. caribensis Promote Growth and Increase Yield in Grain Amaranth (Amaranthus cruentus and A. hypochondriacus) by Improving Plant Nitrogen Uptake
Grain amaranth is an emerging crop that produces seeds having high quality protein with balanced amino-acid content. However, production is restricted by agronomic limitations that result in yields that are lower than those normally produced by cereals. In this work, the use of five different rhizobacteria were explored as a strategy to promote growth and yields in Amaranthus hypochondriacus cv...

ABSTRACT-The critical period of weed control is a part of crop life cycle during which weeds must be kept weed-free to avoid yield losses due to competition. In order to evaluate the effect of deficit irrigation on critical period of redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), an experiment was carried out as split plot ba...
متن کاملGenetic studies for biochemical and quantitative characters in grain amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.)
Twenty six accessions of grain Amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) were evaluated for salient biochemical and quantitative traits particularly reference to chlorophyll a and b, total chlorophyll, phenol content, leaf moisture, leaf protein content, test weight and yield plant. Genetic divergence and association among these traits were analysed. Chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophy...
متن کاملGrowth temperature and plant age influence on nutritional quality of Amaranthus leaves and seed germination capacity#
As a leafy vegetable, Amaranthus can be harvested at different stages of plant growth, ranging from young seedlings to the late juvenile stage, but data on the changes in leaf nutritional value with plant age are scanty. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of growth temperature on Amaranthus leaf yield and nutritional quality at different stages of plant growth. Five species...
